The Jewish Daily Forward was brought into being over a century ago, in 1897, to be another newspaper addressed to recent immigrants in the United States whose mameloshn (mother tongue) was Yiddish.
But to speak of the Forward as just "another" newspaper is like speaking of the Grand Canyon as just "another" hole in the ground.
This is a brief history of the Forward's first 100 years.
