Curious George in Yiddish!

H.A. Rey and Margret Rey were joint creators of the Curious George series.  Both German Jews born in Hamburg, they remet and married in Rio de Janeiro.  Later they settled in Paris, and there, in the late 1930s and early 1940s, they began to work on a story about a curious little monkey.  The Nazis were then advancing on Paris, and Hans knew that they must escape.  He cobbled together two bikes from spare parts, and early in the morning of June 14, 1949, the pair set off.  Mere hours later, the Nazis entered Paris.  When they finally made their way to New York City, they started a new life as children's book authors.  Curious George is beloved around the world by millions.
